  Pin Reset

Initial OSCAR Login Authorization Failed Account Disabled Security Question

Logging into your OSCAR account for the first time:

go to https://oscar.gatech.edu/
select Secured Access Login
user id = gtID#
PIN = 6 digit birthday (MMDDYY)
Once you are in, the system will ask you to select another 6 digit PIN number. The system will not allow you to use your birthday, or any variation of it, as your PIN.

You will be required to enter a security question and answer that will allow you to re-set your PIN in the event that you cannot remember it. The answer to the question must be entered exactly the same way each time. It is case sensitive. If you use a date as your answer, you must format the date the same way each time. You can put the format of the date into your question. For example, "Mother's birthday mmddyy" can be your question. This would be a hint for you to enter your answer as 102654 rather than October 26, 1954.

Examples of good questions are:
Pet's name
Spouse's date of birth mmddyy
Anniversary date mmddyy
Mother's maiden name (first and last)

You should never use your gtID#, date of birth, social security number or any other obvious piece of information as your question and answer.

“Authorization Failed – Invalid User ID or PIN:" error

Enter your gtID#
Leave the PIN field blank
Select the “forgot PIN” button
If you can answer your security question correctly, the system will allow you to enter.

If you cannot remember the answer to your security question:

If you are on campus, you can bring your photo id to room 104 of the Tech Tower during office hours (M-F, 8AM - 4:30 PM), or if it is after hours, you can go to the I/O counter of the machine room in the Rich building (not the Customer Support Center). To have your PIN reset to your 6 digit birthday. Once it has been reset, you will be required to select a new PIN (cannot be your date of birth in any combination). Once you have accessed the system, go to the PERSONAL INFORMATION menu and change your security question to something you will remember.

If you are off campus, you can fax a request to have your PIN reset to (404) 894-0167. In your fax, include your name as it appears on your records, your gtID#, your signature and a copy of your photo ID card. Faxed requests will be processed during business hours only (M-F 8:00AM – 4:30PM). Once your fax has been received, your PIN is reset to your 6 digit birthday usually within 2 hours. Once your PIN has been reset to your date of birth, you will be required to select a new PIN (cannot be your date of birth in any combination). Next, go to the PERSONAL INFORMATION menu and change your security question to something you will remember.
