Georgia Tech Readmission Instructions
- Students who have not been enrolled for TWO OR MORE CONSECUTIVE TERMS, including the Summer Term, must apply for readmission. The readmission application, along with transcripts, petitions and other supporting documentation, must be submitted by the deadline listed below for the term in which readmission is requested.
- Students with an academic standing of DROP OR REVIEW should apply by the deadline listed below to allow sufficient time for review. A "Petition to the Faculty" form must also be submitted in addition to the readmission application.
Application Deadline for Good, Warning, or Probation
- Spring December 1st
- Summer April 1st
- Fall July 1st
Application Deadline for Drop/Dismissal or Review
- Spring October 1st
- Summer February 1st
- Fall June 1st
- A student who has been DROPPED ONCE FOR UNSATISFACTORY SCHOLARSHIP will only be readmitted with a recommendation from the major school and the approval of the Curriculum Committee. A student who seeks readmission from "Drop/Dismissal" status must have remained out of the Institute for at least one term of the academic year. It is your responsibility to obtain the signatures of the major school.
Course work pursued at another institution(s) after the first dismissal from Georgia Tech for unsatisfactory scholarship, may be considered as evidence of admissability. Failure to report any schools attended will result in your application not being accepted. If readmitted, a student will not necessarily be awarded transfer credit for work taken at another institution after dismissal from Georgia Tech. In no case will credit be allowed (except by examination) for courses taken at another institution that the student previously failed at Georgia Tech.
A student who is DROPPED A SECOND TIME FOR UNSATISFACTORY SCHOLARSHIP will not be readmitted.
- Any student, except a part-time graduate student, who WITHDRAWS during any term (and receives all grades of W) and wishes to return the following term, must complete a petition to the faculty for consideration. This document must be submitted to the Registrar before the deadline for the semester for which readmission is requested.
-
APPLYING FOR READMISSION REQUIRES:
- Submission of a completed application for readmission prior to the deadlines stated in paragraph B above.
- Submission of an official transcript from each school attended since last enrolled at Georgia Tech.
-
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
- Former students who have received their undergraduate degree and now wish to pursue a second undergraduate degree should apply using the readmission application. To be a candidate for a second undergraduate degree, a student must have the recommendation of the director of the school concerned.
- Former students who have received their undergraduate degree and who are seeking to take graduate course work must apply for admission to Graduate Academic & Enrollment Services. Obtain applications directly from that office.
- Students seeking readmission who wish to CHANGE THEIR MAJOR may indicate the desired new major on the application for readmission. If approved by the proposed new major, this procedure eliminates the need for the student to complete a Change of Major request after enrollment.
- Students who have ATTENDED OTHER INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION since their last enrollment at Georgia Tech must have an official transcript from each institution attended submitted directly to the Readmission Counselor. These transcripts must be received and satisfactory performance must be indicated before approval for registration will be granted. Minimum satisfactory performance is 2.0 or better for undergraduate students, 2.7 for graduate students, or as indicated on the approved application for readmission
- Co-op students on an official work term and also taking courses at Tech are not required to apply for readmission if they withdraw from all courses during the work term. Their enrollment status is retained as a co-op student at work.
- Students will receive REGISTRATION INFORMATION after the application has been approved.
- You are responsible for obtaining the signature of your major school. Once you have completed boxes 1-6, you may submit your form to the Registrar's Office
