General Information

Veterans Services at Georgia Tech is not a division of the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), but part of the Office of the Registrar, located in Room 104 of the Tech Tower. It serves as a liaison between Georgia Tech veteran students and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Our primary purposes are to assist veteran students with the processing of VA forms for educational benefits, to advise veteran students about certain procedural requirements, and to certify enrollment of Georgia Tech veteran students to the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Veteran Students' Responsibilities

Veteran students at Georgia Tech have ongoing responsibilities to the Department of Veterans Affairs. The DVA and the Veterans Services office at Georgia Tech closely monitor each veteran student's enrollment status and academic program. The student's entitlement is based upon the number of credit hours for which a student is enrolled, and any changes in academic program.

Veteran students at Georgia Tech must do the following:

  1. Notify the Georgia Tech VA Benefits Coordinator every term that they register and want to be certified.
  2. Register only for courses which are required for completion of their degree.
  3. Do not register for a course(s) in which a passing grade was earned, even if it was taken at another institution.
  4. Notify the Georgia Tech VA Benefits Coordinator, if you:
    • change programs.
    • change course load, even if it does not affect VA benefits.
    • withdraw from classes.
    • do not enroll for a term for which you are certified.
    • terminate enrollment.
    • are placed on Academic Dismissal.
    • change address. (You also need to directly inform the Department Veterans Affairs)
    • have depleted your VA educational benefits.

As a recipient of DVA Educational Benefits, a student is eligible for payment of Remedial Courses if placement test scores justify the need. Recipients also need to be aware that any overpayments incurred are their responsibility and not the responsibility of the Georgia Tech Veteran Services department.
